Free forever · No sign-up · Files never touch a server

Most file tools quietly upload your files. Volo doesn't.

Volo opens a direct, encrypted connection between two devices and streams your file from one to the other — phone to laptop, iPhone to Windows, Android to Mac. There's nothing to install and no account to make: open the site, create a room, and share.

  • Up to ~40GB per file
  • 0 servers store your data
  • iOS · Android · Windows · Mac · Linux

The old way

  • Your file is uploaded to someone else's cloud
  • Free tiers cap the size and expire the link
  • You need an account — and often so does the recipient
  • A copy sits on a server after you're done

With Volo

  • The file goes straight from one device to the other
  • Any size, no caps — bounded only by your disk
  • No account, no install, on either end
  • Nothing is uploaded, stored, or left behind

Everything you need to move files

Built around one idea: your file should go straight to the other device, at any size, with nothing in between.

  • Files of any size

Send a 12GB video as easily as a photo. Volo streams the file in slices and writes it straight to disk, so it never has to fit in memory — and there's no server cap to hit.

  • Truly peer-to-peer

Your file travels directly from one device to the other over an encrypted WebRTC connection. It never passes through, or sits on, any server.

  • Pair with a link or QR code

Create a room and you get a private link and QR code. Open the link or scan the code on the other device and you're connected in seconds.

  • Every device, any combination

It runs in the browser, so iPhone↔Windows and Android↔Mac just work. No walled garden, no wrong ecosystem.

  • Share text and links too

Move a paragraph, a password, or a URL between devices. Paste it in and it lands on the other screen instantly.

  • No account, no install

Volo is a web app you can install as a PWA or just use in a tab. No sign-up, no app store, no email gate — open it and go.

How Volo works, in three steps

From zero to sending in about five seconds — no setup, no sign-up.

  1. Create a room

Open Volo and tap Create a room. You instantly get a private link and a QR code — no account, no install.

  2. Connect the other device

Scan the QR code or open the link on your phone, laptop, or tablet. The two devices pair directly in seconds.

  3. Send anything

Drag in files of any size or paste text. It streams device to device over an encrypted connection — never through a server.

Takes about five seconds.

What you actually get

The day-to-day payoff of sending files device-to-device.

  • No more 25MB email limits

Send the whole file — gigabytes of it — without “attachment too large” ever again.

  • Your files stay yours

Nothing is uploaded, stored, or left behind in a cloud you don't control.

  • No quota, no clean-up

There's no storage plan filling up and no expired link to re-send.

  • No “what device do you have?”

It works across every platform, so you never have to match ecosystems first.

  • Nothing to set up

No download, no account, no waiting on an upload bar — just open and share.

Why people choose Volo

The privacy and the price aren't marketing — they're a consequence of the architecture.

  • Private by design, not by promise

Files travel over an encrypted peer-to-peer connection and never reach a server, so there's no stored copy to trust anyone with.

  • Built for files that break other tools

Streaming-to-disk with backpressure is engineered for multi-gigabyte transfers that crash tools which load files into memory.

  • Free because of how it's built

Peer-to-peer means no storage or egress bills — so “free forever” is a fact of the architecture, not a trial.

  • Honest about how it works

Direct on the same Wi-Fi, and connects across different networks most of the time. We tell you what to expect instead of overpromising.

Built for people moving big files

  • I shoot on my iPhone and cut on a Windows machine. Volo is the first thing that just sends the full clip — no cable, no upload bar. A 9GB file landed on my PC while I made coffee.

Frequently asked questions

How do I transfer files between my phone and laptop?
Open Volo on both devices, create a room on one, and scan the QR code or open the link on the other. Once connected, drag in any file and it sends directly between the two devices.
Can I send large files for free, and is there a size limit?
Yes. Volo is completely free and sends files of any size — including large videos — because the data goes directly between your devices rather than being uploaded to a server with storage caps.
Do my files get uploaded to a server or the cloud?
No. Volo uses a direct peer-to-peer (WebRTC) connection, so your files travel straight from one device to the other. Nothing is stored in the cloud or on our servers.
Does Volo work between iPhone and Windows, or Android and Mac?
Yes. Volo runs in any modern browser, so it works across iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac, and Linux — in any combination.
Do I need to install an app or create an account?
No. Volo is a web app — there's nothing to install and no sign-up. Just open the site and start sharing.
Is the transfer private and secure?
Yes. Peer-to-peer connections are encrypted, and because your data never passes through a server there's no copy left behind in the cloud.
What's the maximum file size I can send?
There's no fixed cap from Volo's side — the file is streamed straight to disk rather than held in memory, so the practical limit is the receiving device's free disk space. It's built to handle very large videos, on the order of tens of gigabytes (~40GB).
Do both devices need to be online at the same time?
Yes. Volo is a live, direct connection between two devices, so both need to be open at once for a transfer — there's no server holding the file for later pickup.
What happens if the connection drops mid-transfer?
If the link drops, the in-progress transfer stops rather than silently corrupting the file. Keep both devices connected for the duration; the connection works best on the same Wi-Fi and connects across different networks most of the time.
Is it really free, and how — what's the catch?
It's genuinely free, with no ads and no account. Because files move device-to-device, Volo doesn't pay for cloud storage or bandwidth — so there's nothing to charge for and no paid tier waiting behind a limit.

Your file's already halfway there.

Create a room, share the link, and send anything to any device — free, private, and straight from you to them.
